Over the weekend I was able to cover the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia. Throughout the two days I interviewed artists to discuss their music and inspirations as well as how they enjoyed performing. This edition of the artist linkup was with KUR.

The Philly native stole the show on the Freedom Stage Day 2. Performing many songs of his new album Loyal To A Fault KUR was able to keep the crowd entertained while maintaining a connection with them. So much so that he stopped one of his songs to shout out a fan that had given KUR his late grandmother's chain. “I got that chain hung up in my house to this day. I take that stuff seriously.” KUR exclaimed when discussing the fan after his set.

  While talking with him I was able to discuss a few of his new songs “Love” and “Pressure” and get into his mind as the songwriter

In the Outro to the album Sonny you say “my therapy these songs I just write until I feel nothin” Talk about how music really is therapy for you.

KUR
I usually write my music but I did Sonny off the top. I didn’t think about it too much and was able to focus on myself. When you aren’t stuck on a bar you get the best results.

This next line is actually from a song you performed today. Love  “ I miss the way it was was it really love.” What was going through your mind there.

KUR
Honestly it was one of those things where I missed how it used to be but was it even love. The things that I’m missing is that really love? It makes me appreciate what I have now.

KUR is doing very well right now. Being signed to Meek Mills’ DREAMCHASERS label I am sure the sky's the limit for the veteran philly rapper.
