The Long Island Nets returned home to face the Windy City Bulls Tuesday night, and were able to end their six game losing streak. Starting and finishing has been a major focal point for this team all season, and the 44 point offensive explosion in the first quarter helped propel the Nets to a much needed 116-105 victory as their regular season is reaching its conclusion.

Long Island’s season has been defined with many ups and downs, along with constant lineup changes and adjustments. Coach Caporn stated before the game that throughout the team’s struggles, they have only one goal in mind: win every game. “We’re focused, we have to start fresh and make sure that we win our next three games. Individually our players are confident.” That confidence shined through in tonight’s performance as four Nets scored 20 or more points.

Shooting guard, Bryce Brown, played a major role in the Nets dominant victory scoring 26 points while shooting 8-12 from beyond the arc. Such a high percentage on a large volume of shots is exactly what the Nets needed to get out of the gates early. Brown spoke upon the team’s mindset and focus after tonight’s victory with only two regular season games remaining. “We finally have a sense of belief, four people scoring 20 or more points really brings us together heading into a number of big upcoming games against the top two seeds,” Brown said. Other key contributors in the Nets victory were David Duke Jr, Day’Ron Sharpe, and Jordan Crawford.

As for the Bulls, the loss comes as a difficult one with under 60% free throw percentage in a game that could’ve been a lot more competitive, and an inability to capitalize off of the Nets 18 turnovers resulted in the inability to overcome the early deficit.

With the six game losing streak coming to an end, the Nets will host Raptors 905 on Thursday, in another must win game for the Nets to find their way into the postseason. Coach Caporn stated after the game that even though the team is 1-1 on the season against the Raptors, they team will “take a lot of the ways we defend them, evolve how we play offensively and attack differently.”Long Island’s ;last two games will be played home against Raptors 905 on Thursday and Capital City on the road on Friday.
