New Jersey Devils vs Calgary Flames

Going into the Devils vs. Flames game on Tuesday night, the Devils were 9-3 with a seven-game win streak. This game was highly anticipated because the Devils defeated the Flames in their last match, meaning the Flames were back for vengeance. In the first period, the Flames were up 1-0. Bastian ended up in the penalty box, but the first penalty kill went well. Vanecek had a great save during the penalty kill. The Flames had 14 total shots while the Devils only had five. It was good defense overall, but the devils turned the puck over a lot on their side. They had a good counterattack but did not have enough offense or create enough chances.

During the second period, The Devils came out aggressively. Sharangovich scored but his goal was overturned because he kicked the puck in. This was the second goal to get overturned, but with 14:40 left in the period, Graves scored his third goal of the season with an assist from Hischier and Tatar and with the help of an amazing save from Vanecek. The Devils were aggressive the whole period, forcing two power plays. They scored twice in this period and one of them was from a power play. They offensively dominated and shut down the defense, stopping every counterattack, completely flipping the script from the first period. The Devils had 15 shots while The Flames had 23.

The third period began with even more action. Almost turning the puck over on their side allowed the flames to tie the game, but the devils held on with good pressure, but still played aggressively. Toffoli’s score for The Flames tied the game. Both teams played good for most of the period and both offensives have had chances to score. With 8:03 left in the period, Hischier scored, pushing the devils up 3-2. The Devils were able to hold The Flames off, ending with the win.

The game had us on our toes the whole time, but The Devils won off their strong second and third-period performances. They now move on in the season 10-3 with an eight-game win streak.
