Sending Off Seabass

After over a decade of hard work, Brave New Radio’s interim General Manager, Sebastian Escobar - more commonly known as Seabass - said goodbye to the station Friday, February 11, 2022. He has been a great mentor and friend to the team and we congratulate him on his new job.

Seabass was an on-air personality during his academic career at William Paterson University from 2011 to 2015. In 2015, he won the IBS Award for Best On-Air Personality in the country. He also served as the Program Director and News Director when he was a student and member of Brave New Radio.

In 2017, he was called on by then General Manager, Dr. Rob Quicke, to become the station manager, and in 2021, he became the Interim General Manager. Quicke and Seabass have travelled across the world together including to Florida together for Brave New Radio’s first Marconi win in 2018, to the Marconi Museum in Bologna, Italy where radio was invented for World Radio Day 2020. Seabass also travelled with students several times to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria to assist in the island’s recovery and develop a sister station relationship with WVQR.

“Seabass has been a brilliant leader and mentor to many students who have benefited from his own journey of starting as a student and ending as a General Manager. His impact on the station has been massive and will live on through the work of the students. I wish him the very best and thank him for all his hard work,” Dr. Quicke stated.

A goodbye party was held on his last day at Brave New Radio. Current students, alumni, and professors bid him farewell and congratulated him on going on to do bigger and better things at Bloomberg Media. Sebastian has been an integral part of Brave New Radio for over a decade and we are honored to have had him as both a leader and most importantly, a friend.

Brave New Radio staff gather for one last photo with Seabass as the General Manager.
