Nets Take Down Lakeland to Win 5th Straight
The Long Island Nets extended their winning streak to five games on Thursday night, as the dynamic duo of Craig Randall II and Tyrone Wallace led the team to victory, 111-107, over the Lakeland Magic.
Randall II led the way, scoring 27 points on 11-27 shooting and 5-15 from three, but the experienced Wallace picked up 20 points of his own, grabbing nine rebounds. When asked about the veteran impact Wallace and others like Thon Maker bring to the table, Head Coach Adam Caporn had high praise.
“They’re all great workers. Our environment has improved because of them,” Caporn said. Wallace is averaging 19.8 points with 5.4 rebounds while shooting 48.1% from long distance in 11 games.
For Lakeland, Jeff Dowtin hung 27 points on 11-19 shooting, but Long Island was able to out-rebound the Magic 55-31 to make up for 24 turnovers committed by the Nets.
Following the Nets’ ninth win in 11 games, they’ll host the Motor City Cruise on Sunday night – the team that bested the Nets twice on February 5th and February 7th, respectively. The Nets will look to contain Luka Garza and Saben Lee, who put up a combined 104 points on Long Island between the two games they played earlier in the month.
Long Island currently trails Motor City by 2.5 games in the standings with 12 games to play. It will be their final game of the season against Motor City.
