Brave New Radio & WPTV Win 6 National Awards from the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System

Brave New Radio is honored and excited after bringing home four IBS Awards Saturday night after being nominated for nine in total. The Intercollegiate Broadcasting System Awards recognizes excellence in college radio and television every year for colleges and universities around the country. After a year of hard work, our efforts have been nationally recognized.

Our nine nominations and four wins were:

  • Best Sports Director - Steven Mulder [WON]

  • Best Program Director - Vont Leak [WON]

  • Best Morning Show - Morning Commute: Vont Leak, Justis Gregg, Suzette Ramirez [WON]

  • Best Campus News Coverage - William Paterson Layoffs: Marissa Banks, Isabel Birritteri, Johan Yamoza [WON]

  • Best Sports Play-By-Play (other) - NJAC Field Hockey Championship: Stephen Bologna, Steven Mulder [FINALIST]

  • Best Website - gobrave.org: Vont Leak [FINALIST]

  • Best Logo - Morning Commute: Vont Leak [FINALIST]

  • Best Use of Youtube - Brave New Radio: Justis Gregg, Vont Leak [FINALIST]

  • Best College Radio Station (10k+ Students) - Brave New Radio [FINALIST]

WPTV won two IBS awards: Best Comedy Program - “FNN: Weirder New Jersey: Find Out What’s Legal Here!” and Best Social Media Director (TV) - Marissa Banks. The BNR team, along with WPTV celebrated its wins with a watch party at Underdog Lounge in Haledon, NJ. It was a night of camaraderie and festivity, where our hardworking students got to see their efforts come to fruition. We congratulate the winners of this year’s IBS Awards. We were up against colleges around the nation, and to be nominated for nine awards and win four is a great honor. Brave New Radio has the Best Sports Director, Program Director, Morning Show, and Campus News Coverage in the country, and that is no small feat. We will continue to work hard and hope to bring home even more next year.
